During its 2nd Qtr Meeting on April 7, 2017 held at the Lay Formation, Teng-ab, Bontoc, Mountain Province, the Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC) adopted the Cordillera Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2017 – 2022 along with its accompanying document – the Regional Development Investment Program (RDIP).
The RDP is in consonance with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017 – 2022, the twenty-five-year long-term vision or Ambisyon Natin 2040, the commitments to meet the Sustainable Development Goals by the year 2030, and President Duterte’s Socio-Economic Agenda.
The RDP is anchored on three pillars – “Malasakit”, “Pagbabago”, and “Patuloy na Pag-unlad” as it aims to enhance the social fabric, reduce inequality, and increase potential growth within Cordillera Region. This will be the first plan to be implemented out of the four (4) medium term plans to be crafted and implemented until 2040.
In presenting the plans, Dir. Milagros A. Rimando of NEDA-CAR explained that the RDC Secretariat, National Economic and Development Authority – CAR, conducted a series of provincial, regional and national consultations with its partners from regional line agencies including government-owned and controlled corporations, local government units, and private sector representatives to ensure that regional issues and concerns are considered in the identification and formulation of strategies, policies and programs of the Cordillera RDP 2017-20122. All chapters of the Plan were also subjected to review and endorsement by the six (6) Committees of the RDC from February 2017 to March 2017 and was adopted by the RDC Executive Committee (ExCom) in March 2017 (jjcs/nedacar).
