In the early morning of December 9, 2016, about twenty NEDA-CAR staff went to Barangay Pangablan, Itogon, Benguet, to bring cheers to the barangay’s senior citizens and pupils of the Pangablan Elementary School.

There were parlor games for both the young and the old, while skits were performed by the staff depicting social values and behaviours that should be imbibed by the children.  In a simple and understandable way, key ideas about gender and development (GAD) and violence against women  and children (VAWC) were likewise imparted.

The smiles were all worth it.

Each of the 45 pupils, aged 5 to 13,  received a backpack with a ballpen and notepad, a piece of underwear, and a hygiene kit. A wallclock was also donated to the school.  Meanwhile, 30 senior citizens from the barangay also received goody bags with fruits and medicines. Slightly used clothes were also donated to the community.

The outreach program is an official activity of NEDA-CAR coordinated by the Finance and Administrative Division with the assistance of the Cordillera Organization of NEDA Employees (ONE-CAR).
