REGIONAL Development Council (RDC) members are hopeful President Benigno Aquino III will include the quest for Cordillera’s autonomy among his priorities in his State of the Nation Address (Sona) on July 25.

RDC Chairman and Kalinga Governor Jocel Baac said he already sent his letter of request to the President, citing the efforts of the Cordillerans to finally gain autonomy after more than 23 years of being an administrative region.

Baac said the clamor for autonomy does not only focus on Baguio City but on other provinces, including Kalinga where a kick-off activity of the Cordillera Month was held Friday.

To reiterate this clamor of other provinces, Baac promised to hold similar RDC consultations, meetings and other activities in other provinces, including consultations on the autonomy bill being drafted by the RDC Technical Working Group.
