Agriculture Staff Director Sheila M. Encabo presented strategies on “Greening the Philippine Development Plan” at the First Philippine Green Jobs Conference: Promoting Green Jobs and Decent Work towards Inclusive Growth, held recently at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City. Dir. Encabo was a panelist in the plenary session on “Green Jobs: Employment, Environment and Labor Policy Framework,”, which was chaired by Presidential Adviser on Climate Change Elisea Gozun.
In her presentation, Dir. Encabo discussed the green initiatives included in Chapter 3 (Competitive Industry and Services Sectors); Chapter 4 (Competitive and Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries Sector); Chapter 5 (Accelerating Infrastructure Development); Chapter 8 (Social Development); Chapter 9 (Peace and Security); and Chapter 10 (Conservation, Protection and Rehabilitation of the Environment and Natural Resources). She added that the outputs of the conference will contribute greatly in the country’s preparations for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development or Rio+20 Conference, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 2012.
