House Speaker Sonny Belmonte Jr. commends the efforts of Cordillera legislators and the Regional Development Council’s quest for autonomy saying that this is a manifestation of the readiness of the peoples of CAR to govern their own political affairs and to receive its fair share from the country’s natural resources.
The Speaker of the House, represented by his son, Quezon City District VI Rep. Christopher Belmonte, on the occasion of Baguio’s 105th Charter day anniversary, however added that the protection of Cordillerans from the abuse and misuse of the region’s natural and human resources should be key considerations in the region’s quest for autonomy.
