An information drive on regional autonomy is set to be conducted for members of the Cordillera Bodong Association (CBA) and Cordillera Peoples’ Liberation Army (CPLA) Ifugao, including teachers and barangay officials. This will be held on February 17, 2018 in Ubao, Aguinaldo, Ifugao.
The RDC-CAR responded to the request of CBA-CPLA for an information drive as part of drumming up autonomy awareness at the grassroots or barangay level. The activity is considered as part of the Grassroots IEC project currently being implemented by the Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA-CAR) in partnership with local government units (LGUs).
This will be the first time that the people of Ubao, Aguinaldo will be informed on autonomy. CBA Chairman and Abra Vice-Governor Ronald S. Balao-as and Ifugao Governor Pedro G. Mayam-o are among the expected guests of honor during the said activity. Some members of the Autonomy IEC Speakers’ Bureau, namely; Engr. Andres B. Ngao-i, Mr. Peter Dumaguing and Ms. Rosemarie Lindawan will discuss the autonomy module topics.
Another grassroots IEC project sponsored by the RDC-CAR is being led by LGU Aguinaldo through Mayor Gaspar B. Chilagan, Jr. which targets barangay residents composed of farmers, senior citizens, youth, and women, among others.
Aside from the efforts of the LGUs, the RDC-CAR also welcomes initiatives from non-governments organizations as the autonomy campaign continues to gain momentum at the grassroots level. (Zenia P. Cadiogan, NEDA- SPCAR)
