Staff from NEDA and PSA-CAR attended the Capacity Building on Methods of Data Presentation Using MS Excel. The training, which forms part of the region’s celebration of the National Statistics Month, was conducted recently by the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) with no other than PSRTI Executive Director Josefina V. Almeda as the resource person.
Dir. Almeda discussed ways by which data can be effectively and appropriately presented through textual, tabular and graphical methods, the types of charts and which type is best for a given data set, and how to create tables and charts using MS Excel.
Short workshops were also included in which the participants were asked to identify what was wrong with shown tables and charts, all of which were culled out from official reports and documents of government agencies. There were also exercises in preparing graphical representations of data in MS Excel format.
The four-hour training is part of the PSRTIs’ program to intensively promote its statistical research and training activities in the different regions of the country. xxx
