The CAR RDC will have its Excom and Enbanc meetings on October 13 and 14, 2011, respectively, and a major agenda to be tackled during both meetings is the proposed Third Organic Act.

The draft Act is tabled for approval during the ExCom meeting. Once approved, it shall be endorsed to the Cordillera Representatives during the EnBanc meeting scheduled the next day.

The draft was prepared by the Third Autonomy Act Drafting Committee, an intersectoral body created by the RDC and headed by Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan.  It is the result of a series of consultations with various sectors of society across the region.

The endorsement of the Proposed Organic Act marks one of the major milestones of the RDC’s Cordillera Regional Development and Autonomy Program which began in March 2006 when regional autonomy was adopted as the overarching theme of Cordillera development.

The RDC hopes to have the bill approved by next year.
