To realize the establishment of the Upper Tabuk Hydropower Project (UTHP) in this city, a cultural community here has taken the big step to carry out the conduct of a feasibility study to push through with said alternative energy generation program.

 

The city government of Tabuk has invested P2 million in 2008 for the pre-feasibility study, installation of staff gauge, rainfall monitoring station and application for grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation for said project to be located in Barangay Dupag, Tabuk. The feasibility study,however, was not undertaken due to lack of fund.

To push through with the endeavor sans the fund, Marco Pattud, Board of Director of the Minanga Indigenous Community (ICC) relates that group instigated the organization of the Kalinga Hydropower, Inc. (HKI) as the project proponent seeking the assistance of Engr. Daniel Peckley, Jr. who later became the HKI team leader.
