A total of 55 participants from municipal and barangay officials and employees, religious leaders, elders and PNP staff were trained as autonomy speakers last February 25- 26, 2016 in this town’s Training Hall.

Dr. Peter Dumaguing and Dr. Claro Esoen, members of the Regional Autonomy Speaker’s Bureau equipped the participants with knowledge on the different aspects of regional autonomy such as the salient features of HB 4649 and its five guiding principles, the key core messages of autonomy, and its history.

Dr. Jeng-jeng Bolintao of the Ifugao State University lectured on the basics of public speaking to help the participants become effective speakers.

Vice mayor Jimmy Padchanan Jr. lauded the speakers, participants and the RDC staff for sharing their time and effort for the training. He said that Mayoyao was one of the privileged LGUs to receive the said training, hence, the participants must listen and enjoy the learning experience.

He also shared that he was one of the advocates of regional autonomy during his high school days. Accordingly, it was the lack of information and awareness of people on autonomy that resulted to the negative votes in the past plebiscites.

The two- day activity generated the 2016 Mayoyao’s IEC Autonomy Plan, which include the conduct of 17 clustered IECs starting June this year in the 27 barangays.

The IEC plan was transmitted to the RDC through NEDA CAR Dir. Milagros Rimando for review and possible funding.

Meanwhile, the RDC continues to link and reach out to LGUs for the conduct of grassroots IEC under the Social Preparation for CAR in to an Autonomous Region (SPCAR) program.
