Baguio City – Drumming up the information campaign on autonomy, the Mountain Province LGU with the Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA-CAR) partnered to plan for the conduct the marathon relay for autonomy during the celebration of the Lang-Ay festival on April 2-9, 2018.
The marathon relay will take off from the municipality of Paracelis and culminate after 5 days at the capital town of Bontoc with the awarding of prizes to the winners, and a sharing on autonomy by members of the Autonomy Provincial Speakers’ Bureau. The marathon relay will cover all 10 municipalities namely: Barlig, Bauko, Besao, Bontoc, Natonin, Paracelis, Sabangan, Sadanga, Sagada and Tadian. In every stop per municipality, autonomy speakers will be presenting autonomy topics to inform the residents. IEC collaterals will be distributed such as brochures, copies of House Bill 5343 ‘An act establishing the Autonomous Region of the Cordillera’, among others. The runners will be using shirts printed with autonomy core messages as a way of raising interest among spectators of the relay.
The RDC welcomes this initiative of the provincial government through Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan who put forward this creative way of information dissemination. (NEDA-SPCAR)
