The NEDA-Cordillera Administrative Region bagged its third championship title during the Luzon RDC Secretariat Productivity Olympics held at the University of Assumption in San Fernando, Pampanga on October 19 to 21, 2015.

The CAR was declared champion during the 2012 CAR-Region 1 sports competition, and also in 2013, competing against Regions 1 and 2. This year’s RDC Olympics was joined by NEDA Regions 1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5 and CAR.

For this year, the CAR team won first place in the following events: table tennis (singles women), table tennis (mixed couples), badminton (singles women), and track and field (mixed relay).

The team also won first runner up in the following: chess (men), table tennis (singles men), and basketball (men). For badminton singles (men and mixed doubles), it won 2nd runner-up.

The inter-NEDA regional sports event started in the early 1990’s initiated by then NEDA Regional Director Joseph M. Alabanza to promote camaraderie among the staff of NEDA-CAR and Region I. The sports competition between these two regions lasted until 2012, as Region 2 joined in in 2013. All the seven NEDA regional offices in Luzon (1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5 and CAR) officially became participants in the Olympics in 2014.

As collaboration, teamwork and healthy lifestyle have become important elements of individual and organizational performance, it is expected that the RDC Secretariat Productivity Olympics will be around for a long haul!
