With the objective of having a more meaningful Christmas celebration, about 30 NEDA- CAR staff visited 61 schoolchildren of Balangabang Elementary School and Pangablan Primary School, located in Tublay’s Tuel and Basil Barangays, respectively. The school children were presented with Christmas gifts consisting of school supplies and hygiene kits, while medicines from the Department of Health-CAR were distributed to fifteen senior citizens and the community through the Municipal Health Office. Slightly used books and clothing donated by the staff were also given.
The outreach activity was a welcome break from the hectic work schedule of the staff. This gave them an opportunity to touch base with the community, particularly in two of Benguet’s poorest barangays, providing the staff with a sense of connectivity between crafted regional plans, programs and projects, and their ultimate beneficiaries – the people.
Definitely the smiles of the children provided an inspiration for the staff to do their best in 2016, which they, together with the majority of Filipinos, look forward to with excitement and hope.
