Physical integration remains to be one of the major challenges or Key Focus Area in pushing for Cordillera’s regional development.
This was stressed by the Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) Sectoral Committee on Infrastructure during the Regional Consultation Workshop for the drafting of the Medium Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP) and CAR Regional Development Plan (CAR-RDP) 2010-2016 held last week.
According to the Infra Secom report presented by Department of Tourism (DOT-CAR) Regional Director Pura Molintas, there are significant increases in the percentage of paved national roads in CAR for the past several years – from 35.7 percent in 2007 to 41.14 percent in 2009. This is however, below the national average of paved national roads which stands at 75.15 percent and the lowest compared to the other regions in the country.
