FORMER Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. in his recent visit to the University of Baguio and University of the Cordilleras stressed the region must pursue its bid for autonomy to gain more power and authority from the central government.
Pimentel, one of the primary authors of the organic act, which resulted to the creation of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm), said residents of the region should be given control in governing the region.
He said the National Government should have already given authority to local governments to address problems on education, health, and social welfare. He said with autonomy, the region could gain rapid development to catch up with other regions in terms of growth.
