Thirty (30) private sector organizations (PSOs) in the Cordilleras elected their private sector representatives (PSRs) to the Regional Development Council (RDC)- CAR for the term 2016- 2019 on August 12, 2016 at the RDC- CAR Hall, Botanical Garden, Baguio City.
The RDC, being the highest policy- making body in the region, serves as a venuefor a strong private and public sectorcollaboration towards socio- economic development.As mandated by Executive Order 325, one- fourth of the members of the RDC full council must come from the private sector.
Fourteen PSRs were selected; seven as sectoral representatives and seven as geographic representatives.
For the sectoral representatives, Ferdinand Gonzales (Peoples Organization for Social Transformation Development Network, Inc.) was elected for the Development Administration Committee, Rafael Gayaso (Northern Luzon Federation of Cooperative and Development Center) for the Economic Development Committee, Paz Bumogas (Concern Citizens of Abra for Good Government, Inc.) for Infrastructure Development Committee, Rosella Camte- Bahni (Igorota Foundation, Inc.) for the Committee on Indigenous Peoples Concerns, Esteban Pomeg- as (Cordillera Association of Labor Management Cooperation and Advocates of Voluntary Arbitration, Inc.) for the Labor sector, Emerita Fuerte (Cordillera Administrative Region Cooperative Union) for the Social Development Committee, and Julie Cabato (Shontoug Foundation, Inc.) for the Watershed and Environment Management Committee.
Elected geographic PSRs were Marino Trinidad (Abra Federation of Senior Citizens Associations) for Abra, Cristina Moyaen (Save Apayao Peoples Organization) for Apayao, Antonio Caluza (Philippine Institute of Civil Engineering- Baguio City Chapter) for the City of Baguio, Gerry Lab- oyan (Community-Based Business Cooperation Foundation, Inc.) for Benguet, Agustina Ipan (HungduanBibinnayog Indigenous Peoples’ Organization) for Ifugao, Andres Ngao- I (Kalinga Bodong Council) for Kalinga, and PaulinoTumapang Jr. (Lang-ay Festival Organization) for Mountain Province.
The PSRs will be confirmed officially as members of the RDC during its full council meeting in September.
