The RDC-CAR, in partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women, conducted a Training of Technical Advisers on Gender and Development on October 5-7, 2016 at the DENR-CAR Conference Hall in Pacdal, Baguio City.
The three-day training aimed to: (1) update and have a leveling-off on the basic GAD Core Messages; (2) enhance capacities of Cordillera Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC-CAR) members in providing technical assistance; and (3) train and certify a potential regional GAD resource pool of experts in the region.
Attending the training were representatives from RGAD-CAR member-organizations. These include: six RLAs (CSC. DPWH, DSWD, DOT, NEDA and DTI); three SUCs (ASIST, BSU, and MPSPC); and three NGOs (Tebtebba Foundation, Igorota Foundation, and POST). A representative from Pangasinan State University also attended. Staff from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) served as resource persons.
The performance of the training participants based on pre- and post-tests and simulation of delivery of modules is now being assessed by PCW. Passers will be certified by the PCW as GAD advisers and shall form part of the region’s GAD resource pool of experts.
The training is part of the partnership agreement entered into by the PCW and the CAR RDC through RDC-CAR Resolution No. 64, s. 2014, that seeks to strengthen gender mainstreaming efforts at the regional and local levels.
