The Regional Statistics Committee of the Cordillera Administrative Region (RSC-CAR) wins second place in the selection for the Best RSC in the country.    The award was received by Dir. Susan A. Sumbeling and Dir. Villafe Alibuyog, Committee Chair and Vice-chair, respectively, during the 7th RSC Summit held on December 5, 2022 in Manila.

The summit with the theme, “Rebuilding the Economy with Better Local-level Statistics”, recognized the top-performing RSCs for 2022 across the nation. Besting all others is RSC CALABARZON with both CAR and Davao region placing second.  RSC Eastern Visayas came in third and NCR as fourth best.

The award for best RSC was established to recognize the regional committees that excel in the performance of their functions.  They are rated based on the regular conduct of committee meetings that are well-attended by members, crafting of policies through the passage of resolutions, and organizing activities like workshops and trainings for its members and other stakeholders.  Now on its fourth year, this practice aims to encourage RSCs to be proactive in forwarding statistics in policy-making at the regional and local levels.

The RSC Summit is an annual event participated by the 17 Statistical Committees of all regions, including NCR and BARMM, and PSA officials that started in 2016.  This provides a venue for discussion of relevant and emerging statistical issues or concerns and for the sharing of good practices in monitoring and evaluating statistical programs and activities.

The RSC-CAR is one of the support committees of the Regional Development Council with the NEDA-CAR Director serving as the Chairperson and the PSA-CAR Director as the Vice-chairperson.
