The Regional Development Council (RDC) will kick-off the 10th Indigenous Peoples Month celebration through a simultaneous solidarity walk to the highest peaks in each of the provinces of the Cordillera region on October 3, 2013.

In August 23, 2004, the Regional Development Council (RDC) Executive Committee through Resolution No. CAR-001 declared the month of October of every year as the Regional Indigenous Peoples Month in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) as the RDC secretariat and the Committee on Indigenous Peoples’ Concerns (CIPC) which spearheads the celebration call all local government units, government and non-government organizations, and the academe to actively participate.

The IP Month celebration shall have the theme “Recognition of Indigenous Peoples Rights Towards Inclusive Growth for the Cordillera”.

Solidarity walks are viewed as a pro-active way of recognizing and promoting the rights of the Indigenous Peoples and the Indigenous Cultural Communities. It will be a venue for cultural sharing among the Cordillerans and will foster Cordillera pride and dignity.

Other activities include a Gong Festival; Museum Visit; Orientation for CAR Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives; and Livelihood or Skills Registry Systems Launching Program.
